Dentists Report that Majority of Patients Have Dental InsuranceResults from a The Wealthy Dentist survey focused on the number of dental patients dentists are seeing who still have dental insurance.

About 63% of the dentist respondents reported that they still have dental patients with dental insurance. 31% said that only half of their dental patients have dental insurance. 3% report that only a minority of their patients still use insurance and another 3% report that none of their dental patients use dental insurance.

“Networks will sell their preferred providers down the river.” commented a Nevada dentist. “Insurance companies often don’t really help much with dental expenses when comparing premiums to dental work.”

The survey found that the majority of dentists who have dental patients with dental insurance were suburban dentists.

Here’s what dentists had to say about dental insurance —

“Probably about 65% of the patients have insurance and 35% of the cash coming into the office.” (Massachusetts dentist)

“Our office does not accept assignment of benefit.” (General dentist)

“It would be nice if they raised their reimbursement to match our increased costs for the procedures.” New Jersey dentist)

“I am very unhappy with reimbursement rates not keeping up with basic cost of living.” (Washington dentist)

“The country is moving to take over all healthcare including dentistry.” (New York dentist)
