Average Sedation Dentistry Cost Charged by Dentists

Average Sedation Dentistry Cost Charged by DentistsAccording to the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation (DOCS), more than one million adult patients, most of whom previously avoided regular dental visits, have been safely and effective treated by their general dentists using oral conscious sedation.

Oral sedation dentistry relies on the benzodiazepine class of drugs, which include diazepam (Valium®), but utilize other drugs which demonstrate improved suitability for dental treatment.(DOCS)

But the cost of sedation dentistry varies widely among dentists. Of course, if you are a dental patient spending thousands for cosmetic dentistry, then sedation fees are just a drop in the bucket.

The Wealthy Dentist conducted a survey that asked dentists about the cost of sedation dentistry.

The average fee for oral conscious sedation is about $300. Some dentists don’t charge, whereas others ask as much as $650.

“My IV sedation fee is based on the amount of time needed to complete dental procedures,” a Florida pediatric dentist remarked in the survey.
